+Ruby Addison is an emerging talent based in the South West of England. She completed her MA in Fine Art at Bath Spa Uni in 2022.
In Ruby's own words: Emphasising the beauty in ordinary and overlooked everyday objects is an important aspect in my practice. Inspired by my own home life, my latest works explore one of the most popular, yet desensitised animals, chickens. My current pieces express their unknown beauty and importance, as I explore them as both a flock and as individual characters. Taking inspiration from 17th century still life, my practice has taken the form of more abstract representation with symbolic references. Through the exploration between painting and printmaking, I enjoy the processes involved with making while focusing on small details with the use of pattern. My family home holds everything personal to me, so perhaps this body of work is at times unintentionally representational of myself.
