About the ArtistGreg Miller-Hard’s MANDALA series mimics the complex dichotomy found in flora. The pieces are extrapolated from his macroflora images and are evolutionary…‘a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form’. The word Mandala is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean ‘circle’, a Mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness and is seen as a model for the organisational structure of life itself.
These works are the product of Greg’s passion for imagery distilled from the botanic, geographic and aquatic realms. Photography is his medium but beyond just capturing split-seconds in time he creates images that are more organic, structural and intricate.
Greg Miller-Hard was introduced to floral art through botanic illustrations he researched while studying Botany, Zoology and Geography at the University of Auckland. Upon relocating to Australia, he trained for five years with master photographers before shooting for a variety of clients including American Express, Australian Tourism, Sydney 2000 Olympic Organisation, Ogilvy & Mather, Guinness, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Qantas, National Geographic Traveler and World, Conde Nast Traveler, Conde Nast Vogue Living and Harpers Bazaar.
